The Gainesville-Alachua County Regional Airport Authority (GACRAA) is soliciting sealed bids for the Airline Ticket Office and Baggage Handling System Expansion – Phase 1” and “Central Energy Plant Replacementproject.

The “Airline Ticket Office and Baggage Handling System Expansion – Phase 1” work shall include the renovation and expansion of the Airline Ticket Offices (ATO) and the construction of a new outbound Baggage Handling System (BHS).  The BHS work will consist of ticket counter conveyors, transport conveyors, a slope-plate make-up unit, and maintenance catwalk. The ATO work will include renovation and new construction of walls, ceilings, flooring, finishes, millwork, plumbing, mechanical HVAC, electrical, access control, CCTV, and a structural steel canopy with an exterior metal framed, perforated tensioned fabric screening system to cover the new BHS and related work.  The project also includes site work that will include clearing and grubbing, miscellaneous demolition, new concrete foundations and slabs, asphalt road construction, site lighting, drainage, excavation and embankment, pavement marking, fencing, site access control, site CCTV, landscaping/irrigation, a temporary office trailer, a backup generator and related work.

The “Central Energy Plant Replacement” work shall include the replacement of two (2) air-cooled chillers, primary and secondary chilled water pumps, and HVAC controls modifications.  The existing hot water heating system boiler shall be replaced with two (2) high efficiency condensing boilers.  The hot water distribution pumps will be replaced with variable speed pumps to match the increased capacity of the boilers.

There will be no charge to obtain a set of the bid documents.  Printed copies of documents will not be made available.  PDF project plans and specification files, either on CD or sent via File Transfer will be made available.

A non-mandatory Pre-Bid conference will be held on Wednesday, May 31, at 10:00 a.m. at the Gainesville Regional Airport, Passenger Terminal, 3880 N.E. 39th Avenue, Gainesville, Florida 32609.  Attendance by all prospective bidders is recommended since the project occurs in a secured part of the airport and a security escort is required for a site visit.  An escorted site visit of the project areas will be conducted as part of the pre-bid conference.  Additional site visits will be arranged after the pre-bid meeting.  The meeting will be held in person and/or as a Teams meeting for anyone who wishes to attend virtually.  Contact Bill Prange prior to May 30, 2023 to receive the Teams meeting invitation, bill.prange@aecom.com.

Bids are due at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2023, and will be publicly opened at this time.  The official clock is located in the Authority’s Administrative Office.  Bids received after 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 18, 2023, will not be considered.   (Please note that the bid due date has been changed from July 12 to July 18.)
