GAINESVILLE REGIONAL AIRPORT OPENS TSA PRE-CHECK LANE
The long-awaited service further speeds travelers through security during peak travel hours,
adding to the convenience of the growing North Central Florida airport
GAINESVILLE, Fla., Oct. 8, 2018 — Gainesville Regional Airport (GNV) today announced the opening of a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Pre-Check screening lane, to be open during peak travel hours. TSA Pre-Check allows enrolled passengers to receive an expedited security check without having to remove their shoes, laptops, liquids, belts and light jackets.
Gainesville Alachua County Regional Airport Authority CEO Allan Penksa says the addition of TSA Pre-Check will help speed travelers through security lanes during peak travel times at the growing North Central Florida airport.
“TSA Pre-Check will further enhance the travel experience at our already convenient airport,” Mr. Penksa says. “GNV is proud to join the 200 airports and 54 airlines in the United States who offer TSA Pre-Check.”
Following a series of meetings between the airport with the TSA and other agencies over the past year and a half, the growing airport announced May 29 they were adding a second screening lane and accompanying equipment. With necessary training and the addition of special screening equipment now complete, the TSA is now expanding that service to include Pre-Check.
TSA Pre-Check capability is immediately available at GNV to those passengers enrolled in the program. For those interested the five-year, $85 membership, passengers need to first visit the Pre-Check website and register online, followed by an appointment for an interview at the closest application center.
You’ll need to bring to the appointment supporting documents, including your passport, any immigration documents, birth certificate and driver’s license. The 10-minute, in-person appointment includes a background check and fingerprinting. Processing of the application takes about two weeks.
